My ex took her car here on several occasions to have work done. First it was because of the battery. They told her it was an alternator problem and replaced it. Later she drove to the east coast and still same issue, so a mechanic here replaced the battery, which on this car is a chore. Still having issues when she returned to them, they told her the harmonic balance was bad, and that's why it wasn't charging properly. But still no refund for the not bad alternator. As a former mechanic and an ASE certified one for over 20 years, I can tell you, the alternator and the harmonic balance were both OK. So next trip they say she needs all new brakes rotors, pads, calipers, the works. Now being female when they say things like, "you wont be able to stop or your wheel is going to fall off", she buys it. So this time she had a noise and took it back, they said she needed all new ball joints upper and lower both sides in the front. So I got on the phone with Matt, I can tell you they have no idea what there talking about, stumbling over his diagnosis and telling me it needs them, said if nothing else needs an front wheel alignment. Anybody who knows cars knows you cant align the front if the ball joints are bad. Now keep in mind this car, for a 1999 only has 48000 miles on it. So I had her take it to somebody else, two places in fact. The noise ended up being a piece of plastic wheel well the most likely bent when doing the brake job. The ball joints are fine and do not need replacing. It's sad that shops like this one can stay in business doing people like this. I also have a recorded conversation with the mechanic that he stated if she didn't replace the ball joints her wheel was going to fall off. So no disputing that they said that. Bottom line stay away from these people!!! Read Reviews on yelp and google this shop is no good. save yourself a headache.

I took my car to the Mercedes service in Naples and they quoted an outrageous amount of money. I was disapointed because I have always taken my car to the Mercedes dealer, but this was too much to bear. My wife suggested Chet's because we always see imports getting serviced there. To make a long story shorter, within 30 minutes they go it fixed for ten times less than what Mercedes had quoted. We were amazed, paid our bill and left a nice tip! From now on that is the place we will go instead of the Mercedes dealer. I have to add that perhaps the poster above had a bad experience, or there was a misunderstanding, that happens to any business. I would suggest to keep an open mind and realize that all businesses have their ups and downs. At least for us this was amazing!

I ended up taking it to Chet's to have a diagnostic done. They got back to me and told me my transmission pump had gone out and burned up my transmission. they told me they were 110% sure and it was going to cost me about 1900 before tax. I decided to take my car back to Jax and have the work done there. When I picked up my car the owner met me and forced me to pay him a hundred dollars for the diagnostic even though all they did was hook up the tool to the computer (they do this for free at autozone and other places). He swore to me they did a physical inspection even though my car had not moved from the spot the tow truck driver had left it the day before. When I took it to the shop in Jacksonville the guys there said no way was it the pump and the transmission is probably fine. They turned out to right and it was the torque converter which only cost $800 to fix. To put it simply, Chet’s ripped me off for the $100 they did nothing for and tried to make me pay to replace a perfectly good transmission that they probably wouldn’t have even replaced. To top it off, he was very rude when I picked my car up.
